Montenegro Insider Travel Guide
First-Hand Local Experience

Hi! My name is Ivan, and I wrote the book I would have loved to read myself before visiting Montenegro

Most travel guides are compiled by copywriters who spent three days in Kotor on a press trip or never set foot in the Balkans at all. My handbook is built on over a year of real life on the ground.

Why you can trust my recommendations

Experienced travellers value real, verifiable experience over recycled blog lists. Here is what stands behind every page of montenegrotravel.guide:

1. I saw touristy Montenegro in summer and unwanted, half-abandoned Montenegro in winter

A beach or town that feels like paradise in May will greet you with scorching heat in mid-June and pour rain on you in late September. Having lived in the country year-round, I write honestly about how each region feels depending on the month of your trip.

2. Real experience getting a residence permit and opening a company

Life as a resident goes far beyond simple "bijeli karton" tourist registration. It means notarized lease agreements, local banks, insurance, months of waiting for documents, and miles of queues. Because of that, I warn you in advance about the rules and fines that catch tourists off guard.

3. Tested on two wheels and four wheels

I explored Montenegro by car and motorcycle — testing border checkpoints with Croatia, Bosnia, and Albania, mountain hairpins above Kotor, Durmitor’s Sedlo pass, and Lake Skadar’s panoramic roads. I never recommend a route I haven’t driven myself.

4. Zero sponsored hotel or restaurant placements

Restaurants, taxi services, and car rental companies do not pay me. Nobody knows me and nobody needs me! The project lives thanks to readers who buy my book

How this travel guide was born

When my friends started getting interested in Montenegro, I was constantly helping them with questions about visas, flights, and car rentals. People often asked me about places to go for a great meal. And once I even helped ship a CNC machine from Russia to Montenegro!

That is how I decided to put all my experience together and write a complete guide to Montenegro. To break down all the regions and towns of the country, map out 5-, 7-, or 14-day itineraries, point out common tourist mistakes, and help people. So that their vacation in Montenegro turns out unforgettable, in a good way

Every person who buys the book also gets my personal email support. If you have a specific question about your trip, you write to me directly — and I reply personally.
